Dr. Harbison is a Board Certified Internal Medicine physician, having
been in practice for more than a decade. In addition to having earned
his Medical Degree from James A. Quillen college of Medicine in
Tennessee, Dr. Harbison has also earned a Masters in Public Health
Degree in Nutrition from the prestigious Tulane University in New
Orleans, Louisiana.
Dr. Harbison's specialized emphasis in nutrition,
along with his research activities in areas of cardiovascular pharmacology
are an excellent foundation to the addition of yet another medical
specialty - bariatrics (the science of weight management).
As a public health expert, a staff physician
and hospitalist, Dr. Harbison has seen rising trends across our
country leading to disease as the result of obesity. Hypertension,
cardiovascular disease, diabetes mellitus, some cancers and
other conditions caused by being overweight can be intercepted by
careful attention to weight management. This is the reason Dr. Harbision
made the decision to open a bariatric practice designed especially
for patients with weight to lose and busy schedules.
Dr. Harbison has designed his bariatric practice
emphasizing personal touch, with special attention to patient and
family needs. Medical care has changed over the years, sadly leaving
behind those patients who remember the days when physicians spent
time getting to know their patients. Dr. Harbison's style returns
to the former tradition of medical care based on paying attention
to each patient as an individual, and providing the time needed
to understand the patient's concerns.
